Using the API Control Plane with Agent Designer

Agent Designer in Agentstudio now supports an API Control Plane integration as a source. This source allows you to use APIs present on API Control Plane as tools for your agents. This simplifies API tool creation and management thereby enabling faster agent setup and delivering cost efficiency.

What is the API Control Plane?

The API Control Plane is a Federated API Management platform that can provision, discover, and secure all of your APIs in one central place. It is designed to streamline your API management processes across various environments and platforms, effectively bridging the gap between disparate API systems and bringing an end to API sprawl. This allows a vendor-agnostic administration of the entire API lifecycle and can be adapted to the requirements of your organization. The Boomi API Control Plane takes the complexity out of API management with our unified API registry, enabling a coherent customer experience and consistent governance across all APIs.

API Control Plane is a subscription-based service. Contact your Boomi representative for access and subscription.

API Control Plane support with Agent Designer

The benefits of having access to the API Control Plane in Agent Designer are two-fold:

• It helps you discover all the APIs available in one space.
• It allows you to auto-populate the API tools for easier tool configuration using details from within the OpenAPI spec.

Using the API Control Plane source, Agentstudio connects to API Control Plane and queries the available active APIs. From the listed APIs, you can select the required API and its endpoints. It then creates an API tool corresponding to each endpoint you have selected. Refer to Configuring an API Control Plane source

The system auto-populates the API tools with the information present in the OpenAPI spec. However, to be active, you need to configure them with the required parameters and authentication.
