Access and permissions overview
Knowledge Hub is an Early Access release. Refer to the Early Access disclaimer for details.
Role availability and permissions enforcement differ from the GA model. Refer to the Early Access-specific notes in each section of this topic.
This topic explains how to get access to Knowledge Hub during Early Access and describes the role model that controls what each user can do.
How access works
Knowledge Hub access is controlled by two mechanisms:
- Account enablement: The Boomi platform team enables Knowledge Hub for your account. This makes Knowledge Hub visible and accessible in the Boomi masthead.
- Role assignment: Your account administrator assigns you a Knowledge Hub role. Without a role, you see an Access Required screen when you navigate to Knowledge Hub.
If Knowledge Hub is not visible in your masthead, your account has not been enabled yet. Request access through the Early Access page.
Roles in Early Access
Knowledge Hub has three roles. One is active in Early Access; two are enabled at general availability.
What each role can do
The following table shows Early Access-active role capabilities. Developer and Viewer permissions require KB-level enforcement, which is enabled at GA.
| Action | Administrator |
|---|---|
| Access Knowledge Hub UI | Yes |
| Create and manage repositories | Yes |
| Create and manage Knowledge Bases | Yes |
| Configure sources | Yes |
| View ingestion activity | Yes |
| View retrieval activity | Yes |
| Assign roles | Yes |
| View audit log | Yes |
| Call Knowledge Hub APIs | Yes |
| Execute ingestion and retrieval via API | Yes |
For the full GA permissions matrix, refer to Permissions reference.
Getting access during Early Access
- Request enrollment in the Knowledge Hub Early Access program through the Early Access page.
- Once your account is enabled, navigate to
https://platform.boomi.com/KnowledgeHub. - If you see an Access Required screen, your account administrator needs to assign you the Administrator role from the account settings.
Generating a platform token
The platform token authenticates the connection from Data Integration to Knowledge Hub. Generate and manage your token from the Platform API Tokens overview page, which covers token creation, limits, renaming, and how to use a token in an API call.
How Knowledge Hub appears in other Boomi services
Knowledge Hub is always visible in Data Integration and AgentStudio, regardless of whether your account has a Knowledge Hub license. This behavior is intentional: it allows users without a license to request access.
| Service | Condition | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Data Integration | No Knowledge Hub license | Knowledge Hub appears as a target but is disabled. A message directs you to your account manager. |
| AgentStudio | No Knowledge Hub license | Knowledge Hub appears as a tool option but is disabled. A message directs you to your account manager. |
| Knowledge Hub | No Data Integration license | Data Integration is not available as a data provider. |
| Knowledge Hub | No AgentStudio license | AgentStudio is not available as a consumer. |
