Creating a certificate and generating a private key

To create a certificate and generate a local key, use the Create Component dialog and the Generate local Key Wizard.

Procedure

1. On the Build page, click New.

2. From the Component types dialog, search for or select PGP Certificate or X.509 Certificate.

3. Type a name for the certificate.

   The maximum length is 255 characters.

4. (Optional) If you do not want the certificate to be stored in the default folder, click the Folder button and select the desired folder.

5. Click Generate

   The Generate Private Key Wizard opens.

6. Enter the required information for the X.509 or PGP certificate. See the Generate Private Key Wizard for more information.

7. Click OK.

   The X.509 or PGP certificate details are displayed on the tab.

   For an X.509 certificate, the generated Serial Number is a random integer in accordance with RFC 3280.

8. Click Save to save and continue working or Save and Close to save and close your certificate..
