Assigning definitions to create rules
Expiration definitions can be assigned on the following levels to create expiration rules:
- Site: rule is applied to all site users.
- User group: rule is applied to all users of a specific group.
- User: rule is applied to a specific user.
Site rules
You can assign a definition to create a site-level rule.
Procedure
- Navigate to Boomi Managed File Transfer (MFT) File Sharing site.
- Click User Expiration from the menu.
- Click Rules and then "Site".
The setting is available only to the Administrator role.

- When the rule is created on the Site level, a warning pop-up with OK and Cancel buttons is displayed with the number of users who will expire after the rule is applied.
- Click Cancel to cancel creation of the rule.
If the user count is high, a server may take a few minutes to apply a rule.
User group rules
You can assign a definition to create an expiration rule for a user group.
Procedure
- Navigate to Boomi Managed File Transfer (MFT) File Sharing site.
- Click Groups from the menu.
- Select the desired group and click the Expiration tab.
The setting is available only for Administrator and Manager roles.

User Group rules are listed under "Administration->User Expiration->Rules->User Groups," where administrators can view and manage the rules:

- When the rule is created on a User Group level, a warning pop-up with OK and Cancel buttons displays the number of users who will expire after the rule is applied.
- Cancel cancels creation of the rule. A server may take a few minutes to apply a rule if the user count is high.
User rules
You can assign an expiration definition to a specific user to create a user-level rule.
Procedure
- Navigate to Boomi Managed File Transfer (MFT) File Sharing site.
- Click Users from the menu.
- Select the user and click the Expiration tab.
This page is Available to Administrators, Managers, and Partner managers. Partner managers can only see users with the same domain on this page.

User rules are listed under Administration->User Expiration->Rules->Users, where administrators can view and manage them.
