Getting Started with Event Streams
Boomi Event Streams is a fully managed, cloud-native event streaming service that enables real-time data movement across systems, applications, and services. Built on Apache Kafka and seamlessly integrated with the Boomi AtomSphere Platform, it allows organizations to adopt event-driven architecture (EDA) and unlock the benefits of real-time responsiveness, scalability, and decoupled system communication.
The Event Streams multi-tenant enterprise message queueing and streaming service is hosted in 4 regions; US-EAST, ANZ(Sydney), DEU(Germany), and GBR (United Kingdom).
Boomi Event Streams: Overview
Event Streams supports common enterprise messaging patterns like Publish-Subscribe (pub/sub) and queuing with guaranteed message delivery, ordering, and availability. When used in combination with Boomi Integration, it provides a highly scalable and reliable backbone for an “event driven integration” approach to building integrations.

Key Capabilities
-
Real-Time Event Streaming: Instantly publish and subscribe to business-critical events as they happen.
-
Kafka as a Service: Offers the power of Apache Kafka without the complexity of managing infrastructure.
-
Seamless Boomi Integration: Native support for integration with Boomi processes, connectors, and environments.
-
Replay & Durability: Supports event replay, message retention, and durability to ensure data resilience and recoverability.
-
Scalable & Secure: Enterprise-grade scalability with built-in security, access control, and governance tools.
Why Use Boomi Event Streams
-
Enable Real-Time Business Processes: Trigger workflows the moment an event occurs—like a customer purchase or sensor alert.
-
Decouple Applications: Reduce system interdependencies by using pub/sub patterns, increasing agility and maintainability.
-
Simplify Integration: Avoid complex point-to-point setups; connect producers and consumers flexibly via topics.
-
Drive Digital Innovation: Ideal for use cases like IoT, fraud detection, dynamic supply chains, and customer engagement platforms.
Hierarchy
The Event Streams system functions in a hierarchy organized in the following tiers:
-
Account- The administrative units that provide the ability to isolate environments, specify quotas, and configure authentication and authorization on a per customer basis.
-
Environments - Groups of related topics. Event Streams creates these automatically based on your existing Runtime Environments.
-
Topics - Named channels used to transmit messages from producers to consumers.
-
Subscriptions - Determine the delivery pattern used to send messages to consumers.
-
Consumers - Subscribe to one or more topics to consume and acknowledge messages.
Before you can begin sending messages, you must create Topics and Subscriptions for your environment.
