Setting up email as a target
Sending an email is one of the available targets. Connect to Gmail, Outlook, or any other email account that supports IMAP.
To use this target, enter your email address, and when the River is finished, you will get an email with a link to download the results.
Limitations
- Email links are only valid for 72 hours.
- Only 200,000 rows are extracted per source file.
Email (Target) troubleshooting
Issue: After receiving the email and clicking on Download Your Data, the CSV file does not open successfully.
To resolve this:
- Right-click on the "Download Your Data" and choose the option that says "open in new tab". The download should automatically begin.
- (In case #1 does not resolve the issue) Right-click on the "Download Your Data" and choose "Open in a new window," which opens a new blank window. Refresh the window and check if you can download the file successfully.
Issue: After receiving the email and pressing on the "Download Your Data", the CSV file does not open successfully. It raises the following error: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."
To resolve this:
- Add to the Target some additional email addresses. If you are using a work-domain email, ensure that you add your personal email and a different user than the one attempting to extract the file.
- Check if the issue is occurring for the additional email address(es). If a different user can open the file, check for operating system/browser updates.
To apply the operating system updates, you might need to reset your machine.
