Zendesk Chat connection
Prerequisites
Make sure your account has Admin privileges.
There are two ways to connect to Zendesk Chat with Data Integration.
- Using an app with Client ID and Client Secret - Zendesk App
- Using your Zendesk Chat user name and password - Username & Password
You can only use the Username & Password connect method if your Zendesk Chat account was created as a standalone account in Zendesk Chat and not via Zendesk Support.
- If you use both methods to connect on the same connection Data Integration uses the Zendesk App as the default method.
- If you want to use the username and password method, remove the credentials for the Zendesk App.
Connect to Zendesk
To use Zendesk Chat connector in Data Integration with Zendesk App, you must have the following items:
- Zendesk Chat App
- Client Id
- Client Secret
- Subdomain
Creating an app in Zendesk Chat console
Creating the app enables you to generate the Client ID and Client Secret credentials.
Procedure
- Log in to your Zendesk Chat console.
Replace the value in
https://help.{subdomain}.com/chatwith the name of your subdomain
Or
Use the general login. Once logged in, click on the logo with four squares in the upper right-hand corner. Click on chat from the menu. It opens in a new window.
- In the Dashboard, go to Settings & Account, then select the API & SDKs tab.
- Click Add API Client. Complete the following fields:
- Client Name - The name of your client. This is your "Data Integration" client name
- Company - Company name that you view when prompted to grant access to your application. Use "Data Integration " as Company.
- Redirect URLs - Ensure to use the correct callback URL for your specific console region:
- For the EU console, use:
https://eu-west-1.console.rivery.io/api/oauthcallback/zendesk_chat
- For the US console, use:
https://console.rivery.io/api/oauthcallback/zendesk_chat
- For the Tel Aviv Region console, use:
https://il-central-1.console.rivery.io/api/oauthcallback/zendesk_chat
- For the Australia console, use:
https://ap-southeast-2.console.rivery.io/api/oauthcallback/zendesk_chat
- Click Create API Client. Save the client ID and Client Secret generated. The client secret only appears once.
Creating a Zendesk Chat connection in Data Integration - Zendesk app
If you have created an app and generated client_id and client_secret, create a new Zendesk Chat connection for your rivers
Procedure
- Choose the Zendesk App tab.
- Enter the client_id and client_secret generated in Zendesk Chat console.
- Enter your account subdomain.. The subdomain is located between the https and zendesk parts of your URL.
- Click the Connect with Zendesk Chat.
If nothing happens after clicking the Connect with Zendesk Chat, your browser blocked the pop-up. To resolve this
- On the right side of the URL in your browser, find a pop-up blocked. .
- Click and select always allow popups from Data Integration.
- Click again and sign in again, and a pop-up to connect to Zendesk appears.
- Use email and password to connect to the relevant snapchat account.
- Click "Allow" to grant access to Data Integration.
- Enter a connection name
- Enter a description if needed.
- Click "Save" to save the connection in your Data Integration account.
- Click "Test connection". If the test passed, you are ready to work with Zendesk Chat.
Connecting to Zendesk using your Username and password
Create a Zendesk Chat connection in Data Integration.
Procedure

Navigate to the Data Integration Account.

Click Connections and select + New Connection.

Choose Zendesk Chat.

Enter the Connection Name and description if needed.
- Enter the username and password you use to connect to Zendesk Chat.
- Enter your account subdomain.. The subdomain is located between the "https" and "zendesk" parts of your URL.
- Click Save to save the connection in your Data Integration account.
- Click Test connection. If the test passed, you are ready to work with Zendesk Chat.
