Mailchimp Marketing walkthrough

info

This connector is currently in Early Access. Contact support for details.

Prerequisite

An established Mailchimp Marketing connection.

Step 1: Set up the data source

  1. Navigate to the Data Integration console.
  2. Select Create, then select Source to Target Flow.
  3. Select Mailchimp Marketing as the data source.
  4. Under Source Connection, select an existing connection or select Add New. For more information, see Mailchimp Marketing connection.
  5. Select Test Connection.
  6. Select Next.

Step 2: Select a data target

  1. Select the destination you want to load Mailchimp Marketing data into, then select Next.
  2. Under Target Connection, select an existing connection or select Add New, then select Test Connection.
  3. Under Data Loading Settings, set the values required for your destination, such as Database and Schema. Expand Advanced Settings for destination-specific options.
  4. Select Next.

Step 3: Configure the schema

Mailchimp Marketing supports Standard Extraction only, which pulls data directly from the selected reports using the default extraction logic.

  1. On the Tables Definitions tab, select the reports you want to sync. For more information, see Mailchimp Marketing predefined reports.

  2. For each of the following reports, set its own required Audiences (Lists) field: List members, List segments, List segment members, Merge fields, Interest categories, Interests, and List tags. The remaining reports need no audience selection.

  3. For each selected report, review the Target Table and Extract Method. For incremental reports, such as list_members and campaigns, set the Incremental Field, Incremental Type, Start Value, and End Value.

    note

Data Integration marks reports with a mapping error or a missing parameter. A flagged report can't sync until you supply the missing values.

  4. Optional: expand Advanced Target Definitions to set a Table Prefix, Default Loading Mode, and Merge Method, or to turn on Filter Logical Key Duplication Between Files. Use the filter only when duplicates are expected in the source but not in the target table. Select Apply Changes.

  5. If you change the audience selection on a report, select Reload Reports Metadata to refresh the list of available reports.

  6. Select Next.

Step 4: Set the schedule and settings

  1. Turn on Schedule Data Flow and set the run frequency. Schedules run in UTC.
  2. Optional: turn on Set Custom Timeout. By default, the timeout is set per run based on table size, between 12 hours and 7 days.
  3. Optional: turn on Failure, Warning, or Run Threshold notifications and add recipient email addresses.
  4. Under Data Flow Info, enter a Data Flow Name.
  5. Select Activate to save and schedule the data flow, or select Save & Exit to save it without activating.

Sync behavior

  • Audiences, list members, campaigns, and campaign reports sync incrementally, based on the values you set in step 3. The first run is a full backfill. All other reports run a full refresh on every sync.
  • Reports that require an audience selection sync once for each audience you select on that report. If a report can't sync for one audience, Data Integration skips it and syncs the rest.
  • Every row from an audience-scoped report includes its audience identifier, so you can join across reports without an extra lookup.
  • Mailchimp doesn't return tombstones for deleted campaigns, audiences, or members, or for unsubscribed contacts, so Data Integration doesn't track deletes. A full refresh drops rows that Mailchimp no longer returns.
  • Mailchimp limits concurrent requests per account. Accounts with many audiences, members, or campaigns can sync more slowly or across multiple cycles, so scope your selections to what you report on.
