Kantata connection

Updated
info

This connector is currently in Early Access. Contact support for details.

Kantata (formerly Mavenlink) is a professional services automation and project management platform used to plan, staff, and track client work. Connect Kantata to Data Integration to sync your projects, tasks, time entries, resourcing, and finance data into your data warehouse.

Prerequisite

You need a Kantata account with API access and permission to generate an access token for it.

Authentication methods

You use a bearer token when you create the connection:

  • Bearer token: A long-lived access token generated through Kantata's one-time OAuth 2.0 authorization outside Data Integration. Kantata access tokens don't expire, so there's no ongoing refresh step — you generate the token once and paste it into the connection.

Retrieving your credentials from Kantata

  1. Complete Kantata's OAuth 2.0 authorization code exchange for your account, following Kantata's own developer documentation. This is a one-time setup step performed outside Data Integration.
  2. Copy the resulting access token and store it securely.

Connecting Kantata to Data Integration

  1. Navigate to the Data Integration console.
  2. Select Connections, then select + New Connection.
  3. Search for and select Kantata as the connection type.
  4. Enter a Connection Name to identify this connection.
  5. Enter your Bearer Token.
  6. Select Test Connection to confirm Data Integration can authenticate and reach your Kantata account.
  7. Select Save to finish creating the connection.

Known limitations

  • Several reports — including Workspaces, Time Entries, and Workspace Resources — accept a comma-separated list of optional fields to request beyond Kantata's default payload. These are entered as free text rather than a picker, pre-filled with the fields each report is modeled on.
  • The FX Exchange Rates report requires you to select one or more foreign-exchange tables; selecting none returns zero rows.
  • Custom Field Values runs under a tighter Kantata rate limit than the rest of the API. Keep its sync window narrow on scheduled runs.
  • Subscribed Events, Kantata's change-data-capture feed, requires the Kantata Recent History add-on. Without it, the report returns no rows.

If you need a report or object that isn't currently supported, contact support so it can be evaluated for a future release.
