Viewing MCP servers and authorizing applications

An administrator can make a server available through a profile, but the underlying application might still require you to authorize access to your account. The server card indicates this with a Pending auth state and a Get access action.

  1. In the end-user interface, click Dashboard, and find the server you want to use.

  2. Review the server card and its connection state.

  3. To add a server, click Add Server.

    1. In the Add Server dialog, find the server you need and select it.
  4. Return to the Dashboard to review the server's connection state.

    1. If the server shows Pending auth, click Get access.

    2. Complete the sign-in or authorization flow for the application.

You can also browse Catalog to select an available server.

Connecting an AI client

Connect Enterprise provides connection details for several AI client types through Add Agent. Select the client you want to configure. The following procedure uses Claude Desktop as an example.

  1. On Dashboard, click Add Agent.

  2. In Add AI Agent, select Claude Desktop.

  3. Open JSON Config to view and copy the MCP connection configuration generated for your account, including the gateway endpoint.

  4. Open Instructions to review how to add the configuration to Claude Desktop.

  5. In Claude Desktop, go to Settings > Developer. Then, click Edit Config to open claude_desktop_config.json.

  6. Add the copied configuration, save the file, and restart Claude Desktop as directed in the instructions.

  7. In Claude Desktop, review the connected gateway and available tools. Complete any additional authentication if prompted.

The generated configuration uses an mcpServers entry and a hosted endpoint ending in /mcp. Always use the connection details generated for your account. Instructions for other AI clients might differ.

Using an MCP tool from an AI client

After you connect the AI client and authorize the required application, you can ask the client to use an available tool. For example, ask Claude Desktop to retrieve Gmail labels. Claude invokes gmail\_users\_labels\_get and displays the returned Gmail information.

Claude Desktop also displays its own tool approval controls. These client-side controls are separate from the tool selections made in the administrator interface.

Reviewing recorded events in Audit Log

Use Audit Log in the end-user interface to inspect recorded MCP events, including tool use and changes to MCP configuration.

For example, the log can show Tool used events after a tool call. Other visible event types include MCP added, MCP removed, Catalog updated, and Agent permission updated.

  1. Click Audit Log on the left navigation.

  2. Review event times, types, and the details shown in the list.

  3. Select an event to inspect its details, or click Refresh to update the list.
