Great Plains Connection

The Great Plains Connection contains details about the physical location of the Great Plains database. Great Plains is typically installed on a Microsoft SQL Server database, so the Great Plains Connection configuration is really to the SQL Server database. If you have multiple companies to integrate you will need a separate Connection for each.

Settings Tab

Field Description
Database Host Name Host name or IP address of the database server.
Database Port Database port to use. This will usually be 1433 (SQL Server default).
Database Name Name of the specific company database. Note: This should not be "DYNAMICS" database, which Great Plains uses for system-level information. You can find the name of the database in the Great Plains UI by going to Microsoft Dynamics GP -> Maintenance -> SQL and looking for the Database that corresponds to your Company.
Domain User Name The Windows Domain User that has access to the Great Plains SQL Server database machine. The user name must be configured in the SQL Server database and granted the "DYNGRP" security role.
Domain User Password Password for the user.
Great Plains Version Choose a supported version:
  • 9.x
  • 10.x
  • Version 11
